PLA is a biodegradable material derived from crops such as corn and cassava. Lactic acid is produced through microbial fermentation and extraction, followed by refining, dehydration oligomerization, high-temperature cracking, and polymerization to form PLA.

Biodegradability. PLA can be completely degraded by microorganisms in the soil into carbon dioxide and water, causing no pollution to the environment.
